ELECTRIC BRANDING IRON QUESTIONS

What is the difference between 3/8” and 3/16” electric brand elements?

The 3/8” element is the most commonly used element and run twice as hot the 3/16” element.

The 3/16’ element is intended primarily for calves under 400 pounds or horses. It can also be a good option to size down a very large branding iron design.

How long does an electric brand take to heat up?

An electric brand will take no more than 2 minutes to heat and be ready for branding.

What is the power source?

Our electric brands are to be plugged into a 120 volt outlet only. They should also be plugged into a circuit without a ground fault interrupter (GFI) of (GFCI).

FIRE BRANDING IRON QUESTIONS

Why are there notches cut into my fire branding iron?

Notches are deliberately cut in to fire brands to prevent blotching so that when the branded area is healed it will be legible to properly identify your livestock.

How do I heat a fire branding iron?

We offer a propane heated furnace for easy heating of your fire brands. You may also elect to heat them in a traditional fire, but this can be a time consuming process and may not be permitted due to fire bans in your area.

Can I use a fire brand to freeze brand?

You may, but the notches will show up on a freeze branded hide. Also the handle is much longer and can be cumbersome to properly freeze brand.

FREEZE BRANDING IRON QUESTIONS

What are your freeze brands made of?

All off our freeze brands are made of quality stainless steel. All examples of livestock freeze branded on our website are also of stainless steel.

What are the advantages of Stainless steel vs. brass alloy?

Stainless steel is a much more durable material and wont crack or break. The way we make our irons they also produce a crisper finished brand image

Can I use a Freeze Brand to hot brand?

Most freeze brands will not turn out as a hot brand due to the sizing and the lack of heat vents. The handle is also shorter and does not accommodate the fire heating process well.
